A companionship group for men who have been through life-changing events is celebrating its success next week.
Men@Eccy Meccy is putting on a presentation and an awards ceremony on Tuesday at Eccleshill Mechanics Institute in Stone Hall Road to mark how far it and its members have come in the 18 months since it began.
The group has grown from a core of just a few stalwart members to more than 30 meeting for two hours every Tuesday to catch up with each other, get support and have a laugh.
Members staying active and social by getting involved in the group include those from Eccleshill who would otherwise be home alone, who have been through a bereavement or have experienced some other kind of life-altering event.
The group enjoys guest speakers, the chance to learn new skills, days out and trips away.
