Campers can pitch up at East Riddlesden Hall in Keighley for this summer’s Tour de France Grand Depart.

The National Trust property is opening its lower field on July 5 and 6 to cater for some of the thousands of visitors expected from around the globe.

There will be space for ten camper vans and 50 tents. Bookings are now open.

Staff will also hold a celebration in the Barn on the Saturday for campers and the public.

“There will be a hog roast, music and bar,” said Shelley Hollingdrake, community and learning officer at the 17th century hall. “Anyone is welcome. It should be a great night.”

The National Trust is offering facilities at several of its sites across Yorkshire – including Buckden, Hardcastle Crags, near Hebden Bridge and Brimham Rocks – that weekend.

At East Riddlesden, campers will be able to arrive on the Friday afternoon for a minimum of two days. There will be portable loos, recycling facilities and campers will be able to get a wash. Security will also be provided.

Charges for van and tent pitches start at £60 per person for a two-night stay.

“With the route coming through Keighley we’re anticipating a lot of interest,” said Mrs Hollingdrake.

“It promises to be a really exciting time and there should be a great atmosphere.”

The hall will be closed on July 6 when the Tour passes through Silsden, Keighley and the Worth Valley. Visit nationaltrust.org. uk/yorkshire to reserve a pitch.
