An open service to mark the Women's World Day of Prayer will be held in Otley on Friday.

Prepared by the women of Egypt around the theme of Streams in the Desert, the service will take place at All Saints Parish Church at 2pm.

The organisers are hoping as many people as possible will take part and stay to enjoy refreshments afterwards.

They said: "This is the one day of the year set aside for us to have the opportunity to learn about the struggles and culture of a different country.

“It is a day when not just the women of the world come together, but men, women and children join across the globe in unity, with prayer and participation in a specially prepared service."

More than 170 countries are expected to take part in this year's event.
