The owner of a riding school, left with a bill for thousands of pounds after her riding tack was stolen, is holding a race night to help replace the items.

Saddles, stirrups, bridles and hats were among the dozens of items stolen from St Ives Equestrian Centre, Bingley, on Sunday night.

Nicki Whaites said public support had been strong with people loaning kit but she still needs to replace the tack.

She said: “The kids have been fantastic. They’ve been very upset about what’s happened, but they’ve all rallied round and we’ve made the best of a bad situation.

“Their parents and families have been great too. If it wasn’t for them I’d have given up.”

The race night will be held at St Ives Golf Club on Friday from 7pm. Miss Whaites is hoping local companies will support the night by donating items to auction along with signed Bradford City goodies already given by the football club.

Tickets, priced £7 for adults and £4 for children, are available by calling Miss Whaites on 07970 497352. Guests are asked not to wear denim.
