Tickets for this year’s Great Yorkshire Show go on sale on Monday.

The show, now in its 156th year, takes place on July 8, 9 and 10 and showcases the best of British farming and country life.

More than 1,000 cattle will be competing for prestigious awards and, for the first time in the show’s history, there will be classes for British white cattle, one of the UK’s oldest breeds which is listed on the watchlist of the Rare Breed Survival Trust.

Female sheep shearers will also be making their debut and demonstrating their techniques at the show.

Fashionistas can soak up the atmosphere and see the latest styles in the Skipton Building Society Pavilion and equestrian dynamo, Lorenzo, will entertain the crowds.

Other highlights include international show jumping, discovery zone for children, cookery demonstrations and One Man and his Pig competition.

Tickets are available from 9am at greatyorkshireshow.co.uk, by calling 01423 541222 or in person from the society’s offices at the Regional Agricultural Centre, Railway Road, Harrogate. HG2 8NZ. There are savings on tickets booked in advance.
