Police today appealed for witnesses after a van driver was robbed in Bradford.

At about 4.55pm yesterday, a private delivery driver got out of his van to make a delivery in Highgate Road, Queensbury, when he was hit over the head from behind and his van was stolen.

The van, which was taken towards Queensbury, was located at about 6.20pm in Frizley Gardens, Frizinghall.

The driver, a 53-year-old man, sustained a small cut and bruising to his head.

It is not known if a weapon was used in the attack and police are still establishing whether anything was taken from the van.

Detective Inspector Ryan Bragg, of Bradford District CID, said: "I am appealing to anyone who might have seen a '63' plate white Renault Kangoo van being driven in Queensbury, Clayton, Thornton, Allerton or Frizinghall area between 4.55pm and 6.20pm yesterday to contact Bradford District CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
