Puppets, props and role play helped bring to life the story of the Very Hungry Caterpillar for excited children at Shipley Library.

The story-sack session was one of a number held at Bradford libraries during half-term.

A spokesman said: “The use of props, puppets and role play enabled the children, and their parents, to see books in a different way, with visual aids they could touch and feel.”

Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe, Bradford Council’s executive member for employment, skills and culture, said: “The library staff work hard to create imaginative ways of engaging children with books.”

The final session of the week is on Sunday at Manningham Library, and will be based on the Dear Zoo story.
