Learning took on a Scottish flavour for pupils at Eastburn Junior and Infant School.
Making porridge, weaving tartans and producing Loch Ness monsters were among the highlights of a special day of activities for Year Two youngsters.
They also donned tartan or came to school dressed as characters from the Katie Morag stories. The day was the culmination of a half-term topic centred around the popular books by Mairi Hedderwick.
They feature Katie, who lives with her family on the fictional Scottish island of Struay – based on the real Isle of Coll.
“In geography we studied the island and made lots of comparisons to where we live,” said a school spokesman.
Pupils also designed and made 3D islands of their own, using a range of techniques and materials.
In PE they took part in country dancing and learned the Alloway Kirk Rant, which they then performed for the Year One class.
“The children had a fabulous Scottish day,” added the spokesman.
