A professional boxer is striking out in support of a Keighley charity which helps feed deprived local people.

Intouch Foundation, which runs a weekly soup kitchen in Church Green, has appointed Adil Anwar as its second official ambassador.

Mr Anwar, who is originally from Leeds and is a light welterweight boxer, will use his profile to promote the charity’s work.

He said: “I feel deeply honoured to be chosen as an ambassador for InTouch Foundation. The organisation is inspirational and they do a massive amount of work for a great cause.

“Not only is there a deep sense of community within the organisation, but they are getting out there and trying to make a difference.”

Osman Gondal, InTouch chief executive officer and board member, said: “I’m very happy Adil is on board as he believes in helping people. I’m looking forward to working with him and am sure we’ll make a difference together.”

Faisal Tariq, national mobile soup kitchen manager, said: “Adil is a big fan of the work we do and is due to come down and help us serve. We’ll be supporting Adil at his next fight on March 28.”
