Yorkshire County Cricket Club’s oldest female member has died aged 100.

Keighley mother-of-three Sally Milner had travelled all over the country to watch Yorkshire play, and even enjoyed tea with batting great Geoffrey Boycott.

She was born as Sarah Lilley in Keighley – though was later known as Sally – and worked as a spinner in various mills for more than 50 years after she left school at 14.

She married painter and decorator Les Horner in 1936. He died in 1963. They had two daughters – Irene and Elaine – and a son, also called Les.

Her family said she had also been a keen bingo player at the Engineers’ Club in Russell Street.

Her daughter Irene said her mother, formerly of Exley Head, had been in Herncliffe Nursing Home in Silsden for about two months before she died, and praised the “brilliant” care provided by the staff.

Mrs Milner’s funeral service will take place at Oakworth Crematorium on Tuesday with donations to go Age UK.
