Bradford will welcome Colombian Fairtrade farmer Aimeth Fernandez Angulo as part of his campaign to highlight the growing hardships for banana farmers.

Bananas are the most traded fruit in the world but due to the price at which they are sold, farmers do not see the profits and many are still working in poverty.

Aimeth’s visit to Bradford will be part of Fairtrade’s nationwide Make Banana’s Fair campaign which runs from Monday to March 9.

He said: “I’m looking forward to coming to the UK, and to Yorkshire in particular, to tell people what it’s like to be a banana farmer in Colombia, and how the decisions made in the UK can affect us in my home country I work on a small farm, and Fairtrade has made a huge difference to us there.”
