A bid by Sutton-in-Craven Parish Council to buy a piece of land for the village has failed after it sold for £60,000 above the guide price Despite pledges of £18,000 from residents, which would have been matched by the council, it was not enough to buy Alvic Field, off Holme Lane, which was sold for £70,000.
Described as “agricultural or amenity land”, the field was also described at auction in Leeds as somewhere to build houses, walk the dog, or as a garden extension.
