A Bradford NHS treatment centre has been given a clean bill of health in a national quality audit.

Eccleshill NHS Treatment Centre received a routine inspection from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of all health and social care services in England.

The CQC inspector passed the centre on all five core standards of: l treating people with respect and involving them in their care l providing care, treatment and support that meets people’s needs l caring for people’s safety and protecting them from harm l staffing l quality and suitability of management.

The centre, off Harrogate Road, is operated by Care UK, an independent provider of health and social care services, and services are commissioned by the local NHS.

The centre provides day case treatments including orthopaedics, minor general surgery and endoscopy, and a range of diagnostic services which include MRI and CT scanning and walk-in X-rays.

The inspector’s report praised the centre, saying: “We found people were well informed about their intended care and treatment and well supported throughout their surgery, including pre-assessment, discharge and after discharge.

“Care was logically planned and people were positive about the efficient way in which their treatment was managed. Effective processes were in place for reducing risk of cross infection. We found the hospital environment was visibly clean and staff had received the necessary training to follow and initiate best practice.

“We spoke with people who used the services and one said they were fully informed about their procedure and the service was ‘seamless’.

“Another described how they always chose the centre for their surgery and how staff were ‘friendly and professional’. Another said the service was ‘brilliant’ and ‘couldn't be faulted’.”

Hospital director Christine Wardman, of Care UK, said: “We are pleased to have passed this important inspection and delighted with the inspector’s comments. The conclusions are testimony to the dedication of the entire team at Eccleshill.”
