People are being encouraged to get their running shoes on for a good cause by signing up to the Epilepsy Action 10k road race.

There are already 600 athletes signed up for this year’s race, with the charity hoping to attract a record entry this year.
Organised by Yeadon-based Epilepsy Action, the race has become a permanent fixture on Bradford’s events calendar since it began in 2008, with a total of more than 5,250 runners so far taking part and raising £210,000.
About 1,500 runners are expected to take to the streets of Bradford city centre on Sunday, March 16, to help raise money to support the 50,000 people with epilepsy across Yorkshire.
Katie Stocks, fundraising events officer at Epilepsy Action, said: “The Epilepsy Action 10k run continues to go from strength-to-strength, and is now Bradford’s biggest road race.
“There is a real sense of achievement for runners, knowing that every penny raised from the event goes to Epilepsy Action.
“87 people are diagnosed with epilepsy every day, and demand for our support services is ever on the increase. These services are entirely funded by voluntary donations, so participating in the race means a great deal.
“The charity will continue to provide its life-changing services, ensuring that no one with epilepsy has to live with the condition alone.”
The 2014 race sees a slight change in the route from previous years, resulting in a faster, flatter course. Runners will follow a 10k route, starting at 9am, from Centenary Square to Frizinghall and back. The route will be closed to all traffic from 8.15am to 10.45am, and the course is suitable for both elite and first-time runners.
Last year the race had to be delayed until April by heavy snow and the course record was smashed by Tesfaye Debele, who achieved a time of 31 minutes and two seconds.
For the 2014 race, Epilepsy Action is offering a £50 prize to the first runner who can beat this time and finish the race in under 30 minutes.
The run is supported by Airedale Athletics, who will provide runners with training tips and training clinics, and Sovereign Health Care.
Entry fees are £18, or £16 for runners affiliated to a UK Athletics running club. Prizes are awarded for both males and females placed first, second and third, and for winners of the veterans' categories. A free technical running T-shirt will be provided to everyone who successfully completes the race.
