The jury has begun considering its verdict in the trial of a Bradford man accused of intending to cause his nine-week-old son grievous bodily harm.

The panel retired to start its deliberations yesterday afternoon and was resuming today. The 23-year-old club doorman, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the child, is alleged to have shaken or thrown his baby son in temper.

He told the jury the infant fell off the settee while he was preparing his bath.

Paramedics found the child suffering seizures when they attended his parents’ Bradford flat on June 28, 2011.

The baby had suffered a subdural haemorrhage and bleeding to the back of both eyes, alleged to be caused by a blunt trauma injury. The trial continues.
