A centre to prepare tyres to be recycled in India and South Korea could be opened in a former MOT centre in Broomfields.

Waste Solutions Bradford has applied for permission to open the centre at the former Unique Car Clinic in Eastwood Street.

The proposal is expected to create four full-time jobs and could see 12,000 tyres cut and put into bundles each month.

These bundles would then be exported to be recycled.

The application received by Bradford Council states: “The proposed use will bring an empty, unused unit back to life, create employment and benefit the community.”

The company proposes the 1,000 square metre factory will open from 9.30am to 5.30pm.
