A fun, upbeat atmosphere filled St George’s Hall in Bradford last night as the city’s youth service was celebrated.

More than 600 guests clapped and cheered as youngsters from around Bradford took to the stage to perform – some for the first time – songs, raps, drama and dances.

Some gave presentations about what the youth service means to them, while others showcased videos.

Among the talent on show were a band called Inclusion Fusion, who performed a song asking Bradford Council not to shut down their youth centre, and some fast-moving breakdancers.

Pete Sims, a senior manager at Bradford Youth Service, said the event was the first of its kind in Bradford. He added: “It is amazing. I never fail to be impressed and moved by the abilities and talents of young people in Bradford.”
