Cock and Bottle pub plan approved

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Cock and Bottle pub plan approved Cock and Bottle pub plan approved

The owner of Bradford’s historic Cock and Bottle pub has been given permission to make some alterations, despite objections from heritage campaigners.

Owner Aftab Ali, who wants to reopen the Grade II listed pub, in Barkerend Road, as a restaurant, was granted permission for three new windows and a flue, as well as retrospective permission to remove the wall to a historic snug.

The Bradford Area Planning Panel was told the snug was too small to be used in a restaurant.

Mr Ali told them he had put the building up for sale to see whether there was any appetite for keeping it as a pub, but “not a single pub operator” had come forward.

Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) spokesman David Gaviston said they wanted to see the “outstanding” Victorian interior preserved.
