A taxi delivering a client to a house in Broughton Road, Skipton was hit from behind by another car, spinning it into the road, a court heard.

Malik Murtaza, 27, admitted driving without due care and attention, but pointed out – through an interpreter – that the road was very narrow because of parked cars.

The driver of the taxi suffered bruising and had to be taken to hospital, the court heard.

Murtaza, of Bierley House Avenue, Bradford, told police he had been in a hire car and there had been another car coming towards him when he hit the taxi.

In court, he said it had been his fault, but added the taxi had been jutting out into the road.

He said he was a delivery driver and asked for points not to be added to his licence.

Magistrates ordered him to pay a £100 fine, £85 costs and a £20 victims surcharge and endorsed his licence with four penalty points.
