A Keighley cafe and gift shop is celebrating being named tea room of the year.

The accolade is being given to Lavender Fields, in Cavendish Street.

The business won a category in the Teaclub Awards run by hashtagtea club.co.uk, a website set up by two Yorkshire men who share a passion for tea.

The family-fun Keighley town centre cafe, which only opened in April of this year, was singled out for the quality of its homemade cakes and scones.

Owner Christine Young said: “We’re really pleased to have won the award – it’s wonderful. I understand that we’ll be getting a certificate.

“I pride myself on making all the cakes and scones myself.”
