A Sub-lieutenant who has completed her initial officer training is preparing to return to the Britannia Royal Naval College in the new year.
Rachael Clark (pictured) was part of the College’s Passing-Out Parade in Dartmouth on December 19, but the ceremony was almost in doubt when the new recruits were delayed returning to the UK after overseas training.
Sub Lt Clark was on exercise in the Gulf onboard the HMS Illustrious aircraft carrier when it was diverted to help support the Philippines after Typhoon Haiyan, in November.
The 26-year-old helped put a roof on a church and school on one of the islands. The former Bradford University student is enjoying leave at her Lower Wyke home before she returns to her base on Sunday.
