A children’s centre could soon expand to allow sessions for two-year-olds.

Bradford Council wants to build an extension to the Falsgrave Avenue centre, next to Fagley Primary School, to provide play space for younger children.

The Council is consulting the public on proposals to open the school to two-year-olds, whose parents receive income-related benefits.

The plan is for 48 part-time pupils to attend after April.

A Council report explaining the change in policy says: “The focus will be on two-year-olds who are more likely not to have experienced play and learning opportunities outside the home, and might fail to achieve their full potential.

"Early education for two year olds seeks to redress some of that imbalance.”

The consultation runs until January 23, and a planning application to build the extension will be decided on in February.
