A Bradford teenager died after suffering an epileptic fit in his sleep, an inquest heard today.

Mohammad Ramin, 13, of Sandford Road, Bradford Moor, died on June 21.

He had been affected by the condition since 2011 and was said to be under review by a clinician at the time of his death, but not on any medication.

Dr Jens Stahlschmidt, a paediatric pathologist at St James’s Hospital in Leeds, told Bradford Coroner’s Court that the incident was most common in young men, with 79 per cent of all related deaths occuring while the victim was either asleep or in their bedroom.

Bradford Coroner Dr Dominic Bell recorded a verdict of death by natural causes.
