A 24-year-old labourer has been jailed for 12 weeks and banned from driving for five years after he was caught riding a quad bike while disqualified from driving.

Nicholas Beck, of Dawnay Road, Canterbury, Bradford, pleaded guilty to riding the bike on St Enoch’s Road, Wibsey, Bradford, on May 5 while banned from driving and using it without insurance on the same date.

Prosecutor Nadine Clough told Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court yesterday that a police officer saw Beck on the Suzuki, with two children on board, at 5.10pm.

He rode over the kerb and along a footpath at low speed before stopping.

In January, magistrates sentenced Beck to 26 weeks imprisonment and banned him from driving for five years for failure to stop when required by a police officer, driving without insurance, driving while disqualified, using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour and drink-driving.
