Bradford’s outgoing regeneration tsar, who is taking a new job in Bristol, will take the city “from strength to strength”, its mayor has said.

Barra Mac Ruairi helped to deliver the City Park project among other achievements during his six years here.

Mr Mac Ruairi is expected to take up his new job as strategic director at Bristol City Council by March.

George Ferguson, Mayor of Bristol, said: “Barra Mac Ruairi comes to Bristol with an outstanding reputation for delivering good quality urban regeneration projects in a tough environment.”

Mr Mac Ruairi said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve the people of Bristol and do my part towards delivering some great economic and cultural regeneration projects.

“It feels like a perfect fit for me, so I am really looking forward to getting started.”
