Festive four-legged friends can enjoy their own pooch parties while their owners are out celebrating Christmas, thanks to a Bradford business.

Georgiepaws is offering dogs a festive feast, mistlepaw and winter wonderland walks from its Wibsey base over the Christmas party season.

Owner Liz Hall set up the service so workers going to office parties can leave their dogs for the day, or overnight, while they enjoy the festivities knowing their pet is in safe hands.

Georgiepaws will also take guests overnight on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve so their owners can attend late-night parties.

She said: “At Christmas, people get invited out more than they would usually do, to restaurants, parties or friends’ homes.

“But it is a real commitment having a dog and this can be a problem if there is no-one to look after them – as family and friends may be out and about too.

“Even if you are entertaining at home, you may have some guests who are not comfortable with dogs, or perhaps you are catering for a lot of people and simply have too much to do to keep an eye on a boisterous pet as well.

“People love their dogs and we know it can really spoil the fun if you are worried about a pet left home alone or shut up somewhere while you are out. We decided to offer this service so dog owners can have some ‘me’ time over the Christmas period as well.”

Georgiepaws is named after Liz’s favourite dog – an Alsatian-collie cross called Georgie who died a few years ago.

The business is in Farfield Avenue and provides a home-from-home for dogs while their owners are on holiday, working away or have to spend some time in hospital.

Liz added: “All dogs are welcome at Georgiepaws even if they are elderly, disabled or have any special health needs.

“The only thing we ask is that they are sociable and happy to mix with other dogs – just like at any children’s party, really – so we like to arrange a brief ‘meet and greet’ with the owners before booking them in.”
