A primary school head teacher has pleaded not guilty to offences of violence against a man in his 70s.

Rashidah Butt, 51, appeared at Bradford Crown Court yesterday for a plea and case management hearing.

She pleaded not guilty to wounding with intent, two charges of causing actual bodily harm and two of assault by beating. The charges cover three consecutive days in September this year. The alleged victim in each case was Brian Moore.

Judge John Potter adjourned the case for a trial in February, expected to last three days. He granted Butt conditional bail.

Butt, of Fagley Croft, Bradford, had been head teacher at Feversham Primary School since 2004, becoming principal when it became an Academy in November 2012.

An Academy spokesman said Butt was suspended on September 12 this year – a week before the offences before the court were alleged to have taken place – pending investigations into allegations of professional misconduct, which were neither pupil related, nor related to the current court proceedings.
