A charity has started a project to reduce isolation among older people.

HALE (Health Action Local Engagement), which runs a befriending scheme, is taking its outreach bus to locations in Shipley until July offering isolated older residents free refreshments, health checks and information on activities.

Funded by Bradford Council, the scheme also focuses on building ‘We Care’ networks within communities to encourage residents to be more aware of their neighbours, particularly older residents, and to offer help with jobs such as putting bins out, collecting washing or getting to the shops in bad weather.

Sessions will take place on Dallam Avenue, Hirst Wood, today and Friday. Visit haleproject.org.uk/news for details.
