Two men in hooded tops stole money, cigarettes and alcohol in a robbery at a shop in Bradford.

One of them jumped over the shop counter and grabbed the till drawer, while his accomplice pinched a bottle of vodka and demanded cash and cigarettes.

The second man then forced a member of staff to empty cigarettes and tobacco into a pale coloured duvet cover.

The raid happened at about 10pm on Sunday as staff were preparing to close the shop on Otley Road. The men, who were captured on CCTV images, walked into the shop with their hoods up.

Following the robbery the duo got into a silver Vauxhall Astra that was being driven by a third person. It was parked on Dover Street before the robbery.

One of the raiders was white, about 6ft tall and stocky. He spoke with a Bradford accent and was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms, black trainers and a light grey, striped, hooded top. The stripes were blue, yellow and white. He also had the hood’s drawstrings pulled tight to cover his face.

The other man was also white and also spoke with a local accent. He was slim and wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and trainers, as well as what police described as a very distinctive, dark, embroidered jacket with two yellow/gold snakes intertwined on the back.

Acting Detective Inspector Stuart Lyons, said: “There were some people still in the shop at the time of this incident and we are appealing for them to come forward with any information.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who might have been passing the shop or who saw this vehicle in the area.”

Anyone with information on the raid is asked to contact Bradford CID on 101. Alternatively, ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
