Two people have been taken to hospital after a crash involving five vehicles on the M62 today.

The Highways Agency said two cars, a lorry and two other vehicles collided on the westbound carriageway near junction 25 at Brighouse. It happened at about 3.50pm.

One lane of the motorway was closed following the collision, causing traffic queues to snake back to junction 27 at Gildersome. The lane re-opened at 5pm, said police.

A police spokesman said two cars initially collided in the middle lane of the carriageway, and that one of then spun.

One of the drivers - a 24-year-old man - suffered neck pain, while another was taken to hospital as a precaution.
