The ‘green excellence’ and sustainability efforts of the University of Bradford have taken first prize at the Green Gown Awards thanks to the success of its GLEE project.
A university spokesman said the student experience enhancement scheme had improved the old learning environment of the City Campus library, while also providing a low-carbon refurbishment at the same time.
Ben Tongue (pictured), environmental manager at the university, collected the award for the Facilities and Services category. He said: “Winning this award confirms our belief that this is an excellent case study for the sector. The scope is huge with many buildings ripe for this type of refurbishment and improvements.”
Clive Wilson, director of estates and facilities, was nominated for the Sustainability Champion award for his work driving long-term sustainability success within the department.
