Wyke woman stole from account of pensioner
6:54pm Wednesday 30th October 2013 in News
A woman who stole money from the account of a pensioner would never have committed the crime had she known her victim was 70, a court was told today.
Thompson took £130 from the account of Irene Wilkinson last month after finding a bank card and PIN.
The mother-of-one, who the court was told has a £20 a day cocaine habit, was caught after police CCTV footage of her withdrawing money.
Thompson was given an 18-month prison sentence suspended for 12 months, and told to take part in a drug course, as well as compensating Mrs Wilkinson. Her solicitor Sharon Thompson said her client did not know the victim, adding that other people in the case had not been found.
