Queensbury pupils raise £126 for charity

Entrepreneurial pupils have raised £126 for a charity.
Children at Russell Hall Primary School, Queensbury, made the money for Cancer Support Bradford & Airedale after teacher Rebecca Lake challenged each class to come up with a fundraising project, and gave them £10.
Ten-year-old pupil Mac Butterfield decided to auction off some of the class’s artwork at a fundraising event at the school, in West End, after pitching the idea to enthusiastic classmates.
He was inspired by his father, Dene, who recently visited the charity after completing a 10k sponsored run in its name.
Mr Butterfield said: “I was really impressed as I had no idea the difference this charity makes every-day. Not only do they help cancer patients, but their families too and they make such a positive difference right from the point of diagnosis.”
Charity fundraiser Hayley Collis said: “The help and support of the local community is really important to us and it’s wonderful that pupils so young are being encouraged to get involved in charity work and, in particular, helping their local cancer charity.”
