Fagley St Luke’s school pupils proud of Bradford

Youngsters at a Bradford primary school shared their reasons of their pride in Bradford at an assembly.
Kath Tunstall, Bradford Council’s strategic director of children’s services, was at a special assembly at St Luke’s in Fagley where the children told their peers why they were proud to come from Bradford, as part of a school project.
Head teacher Sarah Horsbrough said that it helped the pupils’ self esteem and pride in the city to learn about its history and its famous characters.
“We asked our children at the beginning of half term how they felt about coming from Bradford and did they ever feel like they didn’t want to say they were from Bradford,” she said.
“We didn’t think our children could have aspirations and pride in themselves if they couldn’t be proud of where they come from.”
