Burley children enjoy vintage fun
3:34pm Wednesday 23rd October 2013 in News
Pupils welcomed a special visitor to their school.
As part of their learning challenge curriculum, children at Ghyll Royd School in Burley-in-Wharfedale welcomed Jim Horsley, grandfather to pupil Bea Horsley, with his vintage Singer which he bought in 1958.
The children had a short ride in the car within the school grounds and were fascinated by the differences between the Singer and the cars of today, particularly the lack of seat belts and thinner tyres.
They also had a short questions and answers session with Mr Horsley to help them with their topic work.
Jo Jenkinson, head teacher said: “This is an excellent way to bring the childrens learning to life and encourage them to be active learnings now and in the future.”
