Woodland 'outdoor learning' underway in Bradford
11:00am Tuesday 22nd October 2013 in News
A new outdoor learning environment near Holme Wood Children’s Centre, Bradford, has now officially opened for community use.
The ‘Learning Livada’ was developed by SureStart BHT on a formerly derelict piece of woodland donated by the Incommunities Housing Trust.
The project received £9,225 from the People’s Postcode trust, and their representatives joined local schools and community groups, as well as volunteers who had given their time to the scheme, for the opening ceremony.
SureStart BHT CPD co-ordinator Paul Smith said that alongside the trees, flowers and wildlife, the area would also include a barefoot walk, a boat, a bird-hide, a swamp for frogs and a camp-fire circle.
He said: “It has been amazing to see people come together with children’s outdoor learning as a common interest and I’m thankful for all the hard work and support from everyone involved.”
