Lanterns of hope on show at Lister Park
9:00am Friday 18th October 2013 in News
A parade of lanterns made by groups across Bradford will be led through Lister Park by a 15- metre snake on Saturday.
Lister’s Lantern Parade is the finale of work by groups from schools, youth groups, churches, festivals and community groups. The lantern will be joined by a phoenix light with a wingspan of six metres, fire jugglers, stilt walkers and two carnival bands.
People will be invited to make lanterns containing their wishes and float them on the lake.
Katie Jones, one of the Community Artists behind the event said: “This event is bringing together people from across Bradford’s diverse community to celebrate our shared creativity.”
Community workers and artists, including Stephen Bykar, Cecil Green Arts and volunteers, organised the event. Lister’s Lantern Parade will start at Cartwright Hall at 6pm on Saturday.
