Fans happy to get steamed up at Keighley and Worth Valley Railway extravaganza

Visitors from far and wide flocked to Keighley for an autumn steam spectacular.
They arrived to enjoy three days of activities on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway.
This year’s instalment of the popular annual event featured a visit from three locomotives which have all operated on the Great Western Railway. There were also demonstration journeys by a steam freight train, to give people an insight into the K&WVR’s original, industrial purpose, as well as a frequent passenger service. Visitors had the rare opportunity to climb aboard to see the controls of some of the steam engines, and chat to the drivers.
K&WVR chairman Dr Matt Stroh said: “It looked very busy on Saturday and the visiting engines went down fantastically well. They ran faultlessly and looked impressive. “We also had an American steam engine that dates back to the Second World War running again on the railway for the first time in 22 years.”
