Otley fortnightly rubbish scheme to be introduced
4:18pm Monday 14th October 2013 in News
Leeds City Council is planning to extend its alternate weekly black and green bin collections after the success of the first phase of its scheme affecting 56,000 homes in parts of Leeds.
It says since the new bin collections were launched in April householders have recycled an extra 42 per cent – cutting the level of waste to landfill sites by 23 per cent.
Councillors were told that the authority could be on track to save £2.5million a year if the rest of the scheme proves as successful.
Residents will be given details of the changes in November.
Details of the new service can be found at www.leeds.gov.uk/newbinservice or www.facebook.com/leedswastedocs or by following @leedswastedocs on Twitter.
