Councillors to hear public's views on Keighley restoration plan
7:12pm Wednesday 9th October 2013 in News
A plan to protect Keighley’s grand buildings for future generations is to be decided by Bradford Council tomorrow.
Councillors meeting at 10am in City Hall will hear what the public think of a proposed update to the town’s conservation area, and how it has changed in the past five years.
Throughout July and August the public were asked for their input on the Keighley Town Centre Conservation Area, which includes much of North Street.
The area is in the middle of a process to restore it to its former Victorian splendour, with work to improve the appearance of many prominent buildings with money available through a Heritage Lottery grant. Buildings improved so far include the former police station, now the civic centre.
The council’s Regulatory and Appeals Committee will be asked to endorse the most up to date assessment.
