At 107 years old, Annis Wood has had a rockin’ birthday – by keeping a date with The King.
Staff at Willow Bank Nursing Home in Bell Dean Road, Allerton, where she lives, wanted to treat her to a special surprise.
So they booked an Elvis impersonator for her party.
She has been a music fan all her life so staff thought the rock’n’roll act would be a fitting tribute.
Home manager Mark Leetham said: “Elvis was a big hit at the party! He had them up, dancing and singing – Annis herself was a bit sleepy though but at 107 I’m not surprised!”
Annis, who has no children, was born in Bradford and lived in Manningham for most of her life before moving to Willow Bank in August 2006. In her younger days her other passions apart from music were going to the opera, theatre trips and watching tennis.
She can also speak French and Spanish and her jobs included bookeeping and office work.
