Judge tells teenage offender to learn to drive
5:01pm Monday 7th October 2013 in News
A teenager involved in a police chase was told by a judge today not to buy another car until he had learned to drive.
Adil Farooq, 18, of Lidget Avenue, Bradford, saw a future in the motor trade and picked up a car when he had no licence, Bradford Crown Court heard.
He panicked when he saw police and led them on a pursuit in Bradford on July 16.
He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving when he had passengers in the vehicle.
Judge Jonathan Rose today sentenced him to a 12-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work and a requirement to attend the Responsible Road Users Group run by the probation service.
He was banned from driving for 12 months and must take an extended test before driving again.
