Visitors to the institute on Saturday enjoyed slideshows and displays of old photographs and information collected by the group.
Many people also brought along items to create a village archive.
Organiser Graham Taylor said: “The group is delighted with the number of people who came along and we would like to thank everyone who brought things for us to copy or photograph for the village archive.
“We plan to display them on our website and use them in future exhibitions. We’ve also been able to put names to lots of people on photographs that we didn’t know before.”
Hundreds of items were along. Among the most unusual were two bars of chocolate which had been presented to local children for the coronation of King George VI in 1937.
