Birthday dinner for Filipino group in Bradford
11:10am Saturday 5th October 2013 in News
The Filipino Association of Bradford celebrated its 10th anniversary with a dinner attended by about 100 people at the city’s Midland Hotel last night.
The bumper event started at 7pm and was due to run until 1am today. Carla Tondo, of the association, said there are almost 8,000 Filipinos living in Bradford and nearby districts, and added: “Our association was formed alongside the British Filipino Association of Bradford. We are mostly nurses working in Bradford Royal Infirmary and nursing homes. We created this association to keep our culture and traditions intact. We may have adjusted well now to everything but we cannot totally forget where we came from. We have learned a lot in this country and we are thankful for that. In return, we continue to practise our profession conscientiously and with such pride. We develop ourselves professionally to give the best care we can, to all the people of Bradford. We have so much to thank this great country for.”
