Two ambitious 15-year-old students have released a fifth edition of their community magazine and have given some of their profits to The Lord Mayor of Bradford’s Appeal.
James Slater and Megan Carson, both 15, who attend Titus Salt School in Baildon have been writing, designing and distributing the Local Leader magazine for nearly two years and while working hard in their GCSE exams, they still hope to bring out another edition in the New Year.
The enterprising pair landed an exclusive interview with Keighley-born politician, Alastair Campbell, and have written a range of articles covering regeneration, theatre and history They donated £250 to the Lord Mayor’s Appeal at a meeting with the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Khadim Hussain, which they had raised from local businesses and from donating some of their project’s profits.
Editor James Slater said: “After running the magazine in the community for nearly two years, it felt right to donate some money to a local cause which benefits so many people.
On receiving the donation, Coun Hussain said, “I know James and Megan work so hard for this project and spend so long in the community. They are very professional in their approach and commitment and their work inspires the young people of the district.”
