Action group to debate Menston housing plan
7:00am Thursday 3rd October 2013 in News
Members of Menston Action Group will head for Bradford’s City Hall next Thursday as councillors debate a condition of planning permission for a housing development in the village.
The group has asked its supporters to join representatives at a meeting of the Council’s regulatory and appeals committee when an application to vary a condition of plans for houses at Derry Hill is to be debated.
Much-opposed planning applications for housing at Derry Hill and Bingley Road was approved earlier this year.
But MAG stresses that the Bingley Road consent is outline only – and permission for the Derry Hill development has not been finalised, as developer Barratt has not signed a Section 106 agreement.
The committee is studying an application for the variation of a planning condition affecting drainage on the site.
In its latest newsletter, MAG said: “To safeguard the village from potential flooding from any proposed development, it is imperative that this condition is retained in its current form.”
MAG is also asking for contributions from villagers to its fighting fund, and seeking volunteers to deliver its newsletter.
