Funding boost for Bradford disabled sport
9:00am Thursday 3rd October 2013 in News
Disabled people in Bradford have now got more opportunities to get involved in sport – thanks to a National Lottery grant.
West Yorkshire Sport has received £240,444 of Lottery funding from Sport England, which has been used to set up Creating Connections.
The project aims to provide a link between health services, disabled people’s organisations and local sport and physical activity.
Andrew Lane, Bradford’s sports development officer who also works with Bradford Disability Sport and Leisure, said: “This project is excellent news for Bradford.
" It is helping create more opportunities for disabled people in Bradford, set up new partnerships and make it easier to gain information on the wide range of sports that are available.”
New clubs in the Bradford area include a cricket club for the visually impaired, a powerchair football club, and a wheelchair tennis club provided by Salts Tennis Club.
