Generous Bradford residents clinked cups at Pesto Italian restaurant in Allerton, Bradford, to raise more than £700 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Pesto in Prune Park Lane held the coffee morning event (above) and gave guests home-made cakes plus teas and coffees in return for donations to the charity. Total funds raised now stand at £710, said general manager Ian Russell.
“We’re truly astounded by the amount of local support we received for our event, especially the generosity of our customers which meant we were able to raise such a significant amount for Macmillan Cancer Support,” Mr Russell said.
“The local community really did come together for this event, sharing their experiences and truly going above and beyond with their donations so we would like to personally thank everyone who contributed.”
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan Cancer Support’s biggest fundraising event. The 2012 event saw 115,000 people sign up and raise over £15million with the charity hoping to break this record this year.
Macmillan Cancer Support help people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support and just £25 can pay for a Macmillan nurse’s support for an hour.
