Olivia puts her stamp on festive design
Talented young artist Olivia Stoneman has already made her mark by being one of the the regional winners in a competition to create a special Christmas stamp.
Her design of two love-struck reindeer hit the right note with judges and she has been chosen as one of the 140 regional winners with a chance of going through to the final.
Olivia, seven, attends Myrtle Park School, Bingley, and all her classmates entered the Royal Mail’s children’s Christmas Stamp competition last year.
Next month she will discover if she’s going through to the next round, said proud mum Mandy Stoneman, of Oak Avenue, Bingley.
“Olivia loves art and reading and she’s really creative. She’s always drawing and designing things, plus she loves animals which is probably why she picked reindeer,” Mrs Stoneman said.
“Her favourite author is Roald Dahl and she loves the illustrations by Quentin Blake.”
In the next stage of the competition, judges will select the top two designs from each of 12 regions with the winners announced shortly. Those will then go through to the final which will be judged by The Prince of Wales at the end of October.
He will choose two designs from 24 finalists that will feature on this year’s First and Second Class Christmas stamps.
Olivia has already won £100 in vouchers and £100 for her school, and there’s £1,000 for the competition winner.
