Yorkshire Building Society staff help urban farm in Bradford
11:00am Wednesday 25th September 2013 in News
Volunteers at Yorkshire Building Society have been helping to gather in the harvest at an urban farm in Bradford.
Members of Bradford-based Society’s agency team, which manages almost 100 YBS agencies nationally, spent a day at Horton Community Farm.
They tackled a range of jobs from clearing undergrowth and weeding to pruning trees.
Jane Taylor-Davies, who led the team, said: “We were one of several groups of Yorkshire colleagues to have spent time at Horton Community Farm over a period of months and each time there have been different jobs to do. Tending for the plants and harvesting the produce brought home to us how important the farm is to the local community.
“Growing your own fruit and vegetables is really satisfying, as well as being a good way to improve your diet and save money too – we were so pleased to offer our time to help such a worthwhile project.”
